Job Description
About The Role
The Director of Accounting is responsible for organizing and maintaining financial accounting systems and processes relative to the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash disbursements, financial statements and tax information. The Director of Accounting assists the Controller and Chief Financial Officer with a variety of specialized accounting and financial reporting duties.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Directs the preparation of statistical information and reports for management, government, and other agencies.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with operating agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and monitors the internal audit program to ensure consistent application of internal financial controls. Assists in the oversight of the annual financial audit and any other special audits.
  • Supports the Controller and Chief Financial Officer with the planning and development of departmental objectives, including accounting programs for budgeting, profit analysis, accounting systems, Medicare cost reporting and internal auditing.
  • Coordinates and leads staff in the compilation of data for month-end close and reporting. Maintains and reviews accounting ledgers, registers, journals and account reconciliations.
  • Assists with the development of annual budgets and forecasts for all divisions and provides analysis of variations and trends.
  • Works with the Chief Operating Officer and Divisional Chief Operating Officers to review and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, profit/loss statements, and analysis of variances in accounts, financial metrics and ratios.
  • Assists with the preparation of various financial reports for management and board meetings, in addition to year-end financial statements.
  • Directs financial accounting functions and staff to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information. Prepares analysis of intercompany accounts and allocations.
What We Expect From You
  • Master’s degree in finance or accounting preferred
  • Minimum eight years of experience as an accountant
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.
