Director, Information Technology

Information Technology Department

Full Time / Exempted

Job Summary:

The primary role of this position is to coordinate the development of the institutional strategic information, telecommunication and related technologies plans for Magnolia Regional Health Center (MRHC). Plans, organizes, directs, and controls information management activities; works closely with executives, leaders and providers to understand the organization and how to best position information technology to support their goals. Provides management direction and leadership in the application of information technology to support the achievement of MRHC's strategic business plan. Actively participates in the preparation and implementation of the strategic plan and supporting tactical plans. Establishes and administers a budget, serves as a technical expert, and supervises staff who support various operating systems or platforms. Responsible for providing proactive direction and education to executives, medical staff and governing board leadership in anticipating information needs of the organization and in the areas of information technology and management to ensure a sound knowledge base for technology and policy decisions. Responsible for the performance, safety and security of Information Services hardware, software arid critical information. Works closely with management and departments to encourage the productive use of Information Services capabilities and resources and maintains an awareness of the latest technology trends and developments in the computer industry as they relate to health care. Responsible for planning, developing and maintaining infrastructures at the department and institutional level to guarantee integration of systems and flow of information. Contributes to architectural plans of the organization and insures environmental controls and resources are available to maintain the continuous operations of all systems. Works closely with community and regional leadership to plan, develop, and implement systems and networks which meet regulatory requirements, focus on community health, and links health care providers to provide information on patients, resource utilization and health outcome data. Performs other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergency situations.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology is required. Master's degree preferred.

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

CHIME and/or CHCIO certifications are preferred.

Experience/Qualifications/Skills:

Eight years of information systems management experience required. Understanding and experience with health information technology process transformation required. Preference of experience in a leadership or supervisory position in information systems of similar size and complexity preferred. Must be able to perform routine and statistical calculations for budgetary and analysis purposes. High level of problem-solving ability in order to determine causes of problems and find effective solutions is crucial.
