The Content Analysis, Planning & Strategy team within broader Microsoft Gaming organization offers one of the most exciting opportunities across gaming, tech and entertainment. The team is chartered with laying out roadmap and strategic framework for content genre & audience, driving business growth by assessing the impact of new launches & driving insights into content performance, portfolio cadence & prioritization, content budget management and title level forecasting.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Director of Growth & Content Demand Planning for Game Pass. In this role, you’ll be responsible for defining the requirements of Game Pass portfolio against the business objectives & financial goals in a way which optimizes the return on investment, delights the 25M+ members and generates substantial value for the creators & publishers we work with.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Game Pass Portfolio Design: Leverage the insights coming out of the Content Strategy team, combined with industry insights & trends, to design an optimal portfolio (by genre, type & size of game, geography focus and other key attributes) across different platforms and subscription SKUs (stock keeping units) (Console, Personal Computer). Define volume and cadence of new releases across these attributes aligned with monthly business objectives & financial goals.


  • Align Required Portfolio with Supply Funnel: Work with Portfolio Planning & Operations team and other partners to array the required content demand coming out of above portfolio design against the available supply from 3P creators and publishers, short term (<6 months) and long term (6 -18 months), As part of this, work with partners to help 3P publishers align on and tag gaming attributes (Genome) for their individual titles.

  • Support Content Licensing Decisions: From above, help in target selection and budget allocation of the content to be licensed across different attributes. Execute and make quick calls while understanding the customer, strategic and financial impact of those choices to ensure the best decision.

  • Drive Alignment Between Subscriptions and Content Plan: Understand the drivers of the subscriptions plan, business objectives and financial goals. Align content portfolio design and size to support the goals, highlighting gaps, risks, and opportunities.

  • Build Org Wide Consensus on Key Portfolio Principles & Questions: Build detailed understanding of key principles which matter for optimal Portfolio (e.g., title volume, cadence, day one, genre mix) and help answer key strategic questions in the process (e.g., value of day one).

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in cross program management, execution of large scale initiatives while managing roadblocks and challenges.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in the entertainment industry, in content portfolio design & management or strategy functions.
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years people management experience
  • High degree of familiarity with games, trends & development.
  • A track record of leading discussions with executive leaders to actionable decisions.
  • Proven ability to build and manage high performing teams: experience attracting, retaining, and developing great talent and helping them advance their career goals and skills.
  • Interest in learning about entertainment/gaming and subscriptions
  • Comfort with working in a fast-paced, dynamic and ambiguous environment with rapidly changing requirements.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience in program & project management, financial analysis, product planning in technology sectors.
  • Ability to influence the prioritization of key content investments and drive buy-in across multiple constituencies, including executive leaders across organizations.
  • Track record of navigating ambiguity to drive outcomes and clarity by leveraging structured frameworks and quantitative and qualitative insights.
  • Experience with building robust and scalable processes; a willingness to challenge the status quo & drive creative and unique solutions.
Product Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
