Primary applications include controls for clothes washers and dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, electric and gas cooking, ice makers, fluid dispensing, storage water heaters, gas valves for space/central heating, and automotive/off road temperature and fluid controls. Role Description


The Director of Global Sourcing is responsible for managing and developing a team of Global Commodity managers, leading change management, and developing and executing sourcing strategies for complex commodities and spend management programs. They will oversee a supply base of approximately $275M in Direct Material Spend supporting three (3) North American, (1) South America, (4) EMEA, (3) APAC plants, & (2) Distribution Centers. This individual and their team will be responsible to find and qualify new suppliers, negotiate commercial terms, oversee Supplier performance, resolve open issues, and work closely with regional sourcing members to achieve Supply Chain Goals. They will need to work cross functionally to help execute broad business decisions. This position will be located in Itasca Il, reporting into the SVP of Procurement. Travel to US based suppliers and Mexico manufacturing locations is required, along with occasional international travel to suppliers and other Robertshaw facilities. Expected travel 20%.


Supply Chain position encompasses primarily procurement responsibilities (90%), and some materials & planning support (10%).


Main Responsibilities


  • Engage in Business reviews and interaction with Supplier C-Level Executives while establishing and managing meaningful strategic supplier relationships
  • Serve as a point of escalation to help resolve Supplier related issues
  • Eliminate roadblocks and challenges to help deliver savings projects on-time
  • Manage and lead a team of Sourcing professionals and provide team guidance and direction
  • Monitor and report on Market Commodity Intel for major categories and proactively adapt procurement strategies
  • Support New Product Development and Resourcing Initiatives
  • Responsible for staffing management, including but not limited to recruiting/hiring, training and development, goal setting and performance appraisal, prioritization of team workload, disciplinary actions and monitoring performance and productivity metrics
  • Support standardization of procurement processes across the organization in efforts of streamlining, reducing costs and improving efficiency within operations
  • Primary driver within Sourcing Team for identification and delivery of material cost savings projects.
  • Provide decision making on issues regarding sourcing, negotiating, and supplier selection
  • Lead and oversee team in Supplier Negotiations and develop strong commercial contracts with Strategic Suppliers


Key Objectives


  • Successful collaboration with other departments especially engineering R&D, quality (factory and supplier), materials management, and sales.
  • Ensuring Team Delivers on YOY cost reduction projects of 3-5% of annual spend.
  • Develop Commodity Strategies that mitigate risk and bring competitive advantage to meet company objectives
  • Mitigate risk to secure continuity of supply


Required Experience


  • Self-motivated and has a strong sense of urgency
  • Should cost and total landed cost models.
  • Effective negotiator with multiple approaches to choose depending on circumstances.
  • Strong Commodity Background in Injection Molding, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Stamping, Die Casting, Machining, electronics, and mechanical components
  • Proven project management and cost reduction experience and success
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership/managerial capacity or demonstrated capability
  • MS Office proficiency required; advanced Excel proficiency required. Practical experience working in ERP or other business planning system.
  • Develop commodity strategies and influence stake holders
  • Ability to manage the workload of a fast paced department
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization and successfully partner with cross-functional groups
  • Operations / manufacturing experience of high-volume production required. Lean manufacturing experience / education preferred. Certified Six Sigma green or black belt preferred.
  • Spend analytics and creating strategic sourcing plans.
  • Knowledge of the various sourcing events (i.e., RFP/RFQ and reverse auctions) and how/when to use them.
  • Standard business financial documents and means of measuring and tracking important supply chain KPI’s. Measuring, monitoring, and reporting on savings achieved.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivated effectively
  • Proven ability to work through complex issues and problems
  • Project planning, estimating benefits, ROI, and timeline. Drive accountability for successfully achieving deliverables on time and within stated budget.
  • 10-15+ years of progressive procurement experience


Education


  • Post graduate degree or supply chain certificate desired if bachelor’s degree is not in supply chain.
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in supply chain, operations, or technical field (BSME/BSEE preferred).
  • Master’s degree preferred.
