Nature of Position:

The Director, Economic Development is the primary lead for Iredell EDC’s business recruitment, business expansion, product development, and marketing & research efforts. The EDC is a full service organization that handles all facets of economic development on behalf of Iredell County, the City of Statesville, Town of Mooresville, and Town of Troutman. We focus our efforts around 6 key pillars to include existing industry, workforce & talent, business development, product development, marketing & research, and collaboration & community. We are dedicated to enhancing the economic vitality of our local community and encouraging new investment and job creation in Iredell County.

Job Duties Include:

  • Works with external partners and agencies at the local, regional, and state level to collaborate, coordinate, and accomplish economic development priorities of our public and private sector partners
  • Builds relationships with real estate brokers, developers, and property owners to identify and cultivate new investment in industrial and commercial property
  • Manages and coordinates the planning and implementation of the Economic Development Programs including business attraction, expansion, product development, marketing, and related functions
  • Serves as the primary project manager for economic development projects to include RFI response, identifying available building and sites, identifying available financing programs, and navigating outstanding questions related to site specific needs and the community
  • Serves as the economic development representative for various committees and local partner organizations at the request of the President & CEO
  • Cultivates product development efforts and serves as a liaison to real estate brokers, developers, property owners to generate investment, site readiness, and the construction of new buildings
  • Ability to prepare materials, comparative and statistical reports, proposals, marketing materials, presentations, and correspondence
  • Prepares monthly reports to share insights and activity of Iredell EDC pillars
  • Identifies economic development trends and data and provides insights to team and stakeholders on key trends that are driving business recruitment, expansion, and product development
  • Provides oversight and management of the Research Analyst to include request for information, building and sites, market data and research, and site selection presentation materials
  • Serves as the facilitator for project needs and request with the County, City, and Town Boards, managing projects and incentives from initial inquiry through commencement
  • Builds relationships with site selection consultants, investors, and economic development allies to attract and recruit new investment within targeted industry clusters
  • Supports and advises projects on issues related to infrastructure development, land use, permitting, zoning, building expectations, and the development process
