Job Summary
Provides administrative direction and leadership for expanding After School Programs, extended-day sessions and summer programs for the District, funded through state and federal categorical programs. Oversees the development and coordination of programs and activities for After School Programs, extended-day and summer programs. Directs the assigned program leaders and support staff. Establishes program goals and objectives in accordance with District policies and governmental mandates. Works collaboratively with staff to deliver academic and enrichment programs offered after-school, extended–day sessions and summer programs. Ensures the After School Program goals are consistent with the needs of the surrounding community and supportive of the educational mission of the School District. Monitors financial expenditures and creates short and long-term plans for programmatic activities and evaluation for such programs.
This is a full-time, 12 month non-represented position. The salary grade is 4029, which ranges from 83,164 to 123,123.
Essential Functions
- Develops program goals and objectives in accordance with District policies and governmental mandates.
- Oversee the creation of innovative and age appropriate curricula, lessons and theme based projects to engage students and enhance learning.
- Keeps the administrators abreast of new trends and changes.
- Visit classes and school sites on a regular basis to monitor effectiveness and assist when needed.
- Keeps informed of current laws, regulations and trends related to after school programs that are categorically funded, by attending meetings, conferences and workshops, and by reading current professional publications.
- Participates in available training to meet new safety and/or technology standards.
- Assists the Deputy, School Operations with the development of After School Program, extended-stay sessions and summer sessions priorities and in the coordinates and plans of After School Programs, extended-day sessions and summer programs.
- Provides administrative direction and leadership for the expansion of After School Programs, extended-day sessions and summer programs.
- Prepares, and delivers oral and written reports, recommendations and presentations to the Board of Education, parents, and others regarding after school program matters.
- Oversees the effectiveness of the After School Programs, extended-day sessions and summer programs through the achievement of departmental objectives of program statistics.
- Works collaboratively with staff to deliver academic and enrichment programs offered after school, extended-day session, and summer programs.
- Develops and implements recruitment strategies to motivate children to enroll in the program and continue participation on a consistent basis.
- Directs, coordinates, and conducts in-service programs for District certificated and classified staff to improve their effectiveness in implementing after school programs, extended-day sessions and summer programs.
- Assists with security and maintenance of cumulative and other records pertinent to the operation of the programs.
- Oversees the development and implementation of timetables to achieve short and long-term planning for programmatic activities.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university
- Five years of full-time paid, professional administrative experience, which has involved working in an educational setting and has included managing grants and working with community or corporate partners, at least three of which have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
o current practices to improve student achievement and accelerate learning.
o laws and regulations governing categorical programs related to after school programs.
o curriculum design, planning, development, implementation and evaluation. o budget development and control.
o grant writing/application process.
o principals and practices of leadership, management, supervision and training.
o technology and computer software applications relative to education and administration.
o personal computer software applications including PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to:
o interpret School District policies and procedures related to grant process, application and implementation.
o use a personal computer.
o communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
o establish and maintain effective working relationships.
