Job Description

The Director of Advanced Engineering is responsible for all Preproduction Engineering related activities ranging from New Product Development, Portfolio Management and Design/Product Compliance. The position also includes all tooling/mold management as well as Process Controls. The Position is considered to be a Sr. Staff Member on the Engineering team, and one critical to our ability to maintain our current position in the market place as well as grow strategically across new markets and segments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze data and identify solutions based on root cause analysis and create business cases to present to key stakeholders and “sell” solutions
  • Product Compliance Leader for the organization ensuring that our Designs meet and or exceed and Customer of Governmental Compliance obligations.
  • Support Sales with concepts, designs and strategy’s that will provide Mauser with a competitive advantage vs. our competition.
  • Constantly strives to improve the performance and quality of production, people, and processes to achieve maximum productivity. Partner with key functional area teams to drive improvement results throughout the organization.
  • Be a leader in EIP/Cost Out initiatives, finding methods through design and or process to lower our cost structure and become more profitable and competitive.
  • Monitor progress of key initiatives in order to check if changes yield desirable results. Establish measurable standards at the start of a project and then compare actual project results against these, regularly generating detailed update reports to key stake holders.
  • Provide essential direction to cross-functional teams within the manufacturing, engineering and sales organization, including hands on support to drive improvements and activities for the company.
  • Develop short- and long-term strategies across the network in the area of Design and New Product Development.

Job Requirements
  • Analytical, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills to assess needs, understanding issues, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Strong PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other applicable applications such as Microsoft Project, Minitab) as well as CAD Modeling Software such as Solidworks.
  • Strong situational leadership skills to influence all levels of the organization.
  • Travel: 25 – 50% in order to support Operations from an Engineering perspective.
  • 10 -15 years Engineering-based leadership experience, previous tooling, design, and project management experience.
  • Able to design, develop, and deploy improvement strategies that support organizational, divisional, and site strategic objectives.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or CAD/Product Design
  • Must possess typing skills, graph/charts, blueprint reading ability, and familiarity with measuring methods.
  • Ability to systematically define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and can work with deadlines individually or as part of a team.
