We are a minority-business based in Grandville, Michigan. The business consists of metal stamping and assembling metal parts for diverse product lines including office furniture, industrial hardware, safety, security, and automotive. We looking for qualifying candidates for the 1st Shift Die Setting/ Set up Tech positions. We are looking for candidates with a strong work ethic, safety conscious, self-motivated with a positive attitude, and a sense of urgency to help wherever there is a need.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for successfully changing over/setting dies in presses or other equipment in plant in a timely manner while following set up processes and procedures that are set in place. The objective is to establish a 1st good piece of the part being produced and ensuring that the press is running continuously without any interruptions or quality deviations before moving on to next task.

Hours 5a-3p M-F

Job Duties-

• Able to setup and operate automatic presses and related equipment, including secondary.
• Must be able to establish 1st good piece at set up.
• Train team members on technical job duties.
• Initiates service requests for repairs on equipment, tools and facility.
• Must have the ability to understand set up, and its terminology, instructions and work with minimum supervision.
• Must have a complete understanding and working of progressive tools.
• Must be able to document and communicate any parameter deviations from set up sheet.
• Must have the ability to troubleshoot a process and assist operators when problems occur.
• Must be able to interact well with support departments to achieve success at the work station.
• Maintains work area cleanliness in accordance with 5S standards.
• Must have the ability to use and understand quality control instruments and fixtures and record findings.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be able to read and write.

Add and subtract decimals, fractions, and percentages. Capable of using various machine tools, micrometers, calipers.

Mechanical ability is a must.

A minimum of 3 years running presses.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Extensive standing, recurring bending as well as moderate to heavy lifting.

Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.

Continuous mental and/or visual attention to operate machine(s).

Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
