Pay Range: $16.26 - $24.38
Summary:
Schedule: 36 hours per week, Monday - Friday, Flexible shifts between 4:00am - 7:00pm. Working 3 Saturdays in a 6-week schedule. No Sundays required!

  • This position offers an opportunity to get to know patients who come in routinely.
  • Would be a great position for someone with a Phlebotomy or CNA background.

The Dialysis Technician performs delegated nursing interventions to the stable dialysis patient under direct supervision of the registered nurse according to facility policy. This may include but not limited to; initiation of dialysis, monitoring patient during treatment, discontinuing treatment, operation of the dialysis equipment, gathering and documenting patient information, and responding to alarms.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepare and adjust dialysate concentrate according to physician orders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
  • Obtain a blood sample via the dialysis line or peripheral access site.
  • Responds to dialysis emergencies and initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the event of a cardiac and/or pulmonary emergency; immediately seeking assistance from the licensed nurse.
  • Measure and adjust blood flow rates and fluid removal rates according to policy.
  • Inspect the access site and perform cannulation of the dialysis access to initiate dialysis treatment.
  • Monitor and record dialysis treatment parameters and make adjustments to treatment including dialysis equipment settings, patient positioning and administration of saline, as directed by the licensed nurse.
  • Administer the following medications considered part of routine hemodialysis treatment: o Local anesthetic by the intradermal route o Heparin 1:1000units to initiate treatment or for administration throughout the treatment o Normal saline administration via the dialysis machine for initiation and termination of dialysis procedure
  • Initiate and discontinue dialysis and establish hemostasis of the peripheral access site.
  • Prime and set dialysis machine according to dialysis prescription; test and set monitors and alarms.
