We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Registered Nurse for the position of DHHS Nurse Consultant. In this role you will be an integral part of our Public Health Division, helping people live better lives, and provide critical supervisory support in the Office of Long-Term Care Facilities.

Hiring Rate: $35.92/hour - $52.95/hour. Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.

Work Schedule will be primarily Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, may require some Monday -Thursday, 10 hour days while working on surveys.

Examples of Work
What you will do as a DHHS Nurse Consultant:
  • Supervise a team of Facility Surveyors in the Office of Long-Term Care Facilities including completion of goal development, performance evaluations, performance management, and conducting supervisory monitoring visits of Facility Surveyors in the field.
  • Review the written inspection reports created by Facility Surveyors to ensure deficiencies are cited with appropriate evidence to support the citation and to ensure reports are written in conformance with the Principles of Documentation established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Be required to travel across the State of Nebraska.
  • Work as a qualified surveyor who will conduct long-term care facility surveys and investigations.
  • Supervise a team of Facility Surveyors in the Office of Long-Term Care Facilities including completion of goal development, performance evaluations, performance management, and conducting supervisory monitoring visits of Facility Surveyors in the field.
  • Review the written inspection reports created by Facility Surveyors to What you will do as a DHHS Nurse Consultant:
  • Draft disciplinary and enforcement actions related to health care facilities for review by the DHHS Program Manager II and will collaborate with the Program Manager in decision making for those disciplinary and enforcement actions.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Licensure in Nebraska as a registered nurse and experience in nursing in a variety of roles.

PREFERRED:
  • Supervisory experience
  • Long-term care nursing experience

OTHER: Valid drivers license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
