Developmental Specialist (DS) work in community and center based settings providing supports to people who are cognitively, behaviorally and/or physically disabled. The (DS) implements instructional activities and provides support to individuals in the program with the goal of maximizing their capacity for personal growth and community membership consistent with each individuals support plan. All duties and responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with person-centered practices, and Positive Behavior Supports.


  • Coordinate daily activities that align with support goals,in the center and/or community settings.
  • Provide on-going supervision as well as annual evaluations to support staff.
  • Ensure program development, implementation and monitoring occurs on an on-going basis for each participant in compliance with legal, accreditation, licensing, and regulatory entities.
  • Interviews and effectively recommend hire, for support staff.
  • Provide assistance in program environments as needed.
  • Actively assist in development and operations within the Adult Day Service Department
  • Oversee the management of program environments, which include supervision of support staff.
  • Ensure quality service is being provided throughout the program by planning, directing and supervising the daily activities of the programs.
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with team members.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other providers to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the services provided.
  • Ensure and oversee and/or provide the scheduling of ongoing training, staff meetings and supervisory meetings.
  • Monitor that documentation and client files are maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements for programs.
  • Monitor progress towards goals, collect data on all services provided.


Qualifications:


Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant area of study OR Bachelor\'s degree and successful completion of designated competency Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Speech and Language Pathology, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Phycology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Therapeutic Recreation.


  • Criminal history background clearance and clear pre-hire drug screen
  • Experience in the development of person-centered plan and programs
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Valid driver\'s license/ vehicle insurance and a clean driving record
