This role in summary

Whirlpool is currently seeking candidates for a Project Owner position to join our ADI (Advanced Development & Innovation) team in Benton Harbor, MI. This position will lead exciting consumer-driven innovation project learning, and team outcomes and foster implementation into the production process. Projects can cover our range of products and will require interaction with global stakeholders across Whirlpool’s business. No two weeks will be the same. You will facilitate cross-functional teams to learn our consumers' main jobs to be done and desirability, identify and prove key technology feasibility, as well as business and industrial design viability to bring relevant innovation to make the life of our consumers at home better. You will facilitate cross-functional teams to learn our consumers' main jobs to be done and desirability, identify and prove key technology feasibility, as well as business and industrial design viability to bring relevant innovation to make the life of our consumers at home better. Employees in this role can work a hybrid schedule of three core days in the office and two days remote. This enables employees to come together to collaborate in person and gives employees the added flexibility to work remotely.



Your responsibilities will include


  • Deeply understands and manages all processes and tools of WPD (Whirlpool Product Development) with entrepreneurship methodologies such as Design Thinking, Lean, and Agile, being a reference inside the organization
  • Facilitates cross-functional teams to deliver new product development projects on regional and/or global scale, taking projects from the original concept, till final implementation and project release
  • Registers understand expectations, and influences, report project performance, and collect and manage requirements from stakeholders
  • Responsible for managing the project perspective of all knowledge areas: Project Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Human Resources, Communications, Risk, Procurement, and Stakeholder Management. initiation, passing through Planning, Control & Monitoring, Execution, and Completion.
  • The Project Leader is the voice of the project, the central point of contact that conducts project meetings, integration events, status reports, and gate approvals at all levels of the organization
  • Manages risks, developing plans to avoid, mitigate, transfer, accept, or explore them along with the project team and stakeholders
  • Gathers and negotiates requirements from all stakeholders, managing trade-offs to deliver the best solution to consumers
  • Manages changes guiding the team to request, analyze impact and probability, and make the go/no go decisions on change
  • Owns project results, influencing cross-functionally to ensure a smooth transition of projects to business owners
  • Leads the project team in all project phases


Minimum requirements

  • 2+ years’ work experience as a Project Leader with Design Thinking Methodology, Agile Methodology, or Lean Product Development
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years working in a product development organization


Preferred skills and experiences

  • Business delivery background
  • Financial planning, analysis, and capital investment management
  • MBA
