Job Description
The role of the Development and Communications Manager is to actively coordinate and manage fundraising and communication efforts, with a focus on individual giving and event fundraising. This fundraising professional will work closely with the Co-Executive Directors, Development Consultant and Public Relations Consultant to identify, solicit, and steward gifts as well as manage key fundraising events in support of Moms Helping Moms mission, and publicize news and updates about our organization to various audiences including social media platforms. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, self-motivated individual with experience in fundraising and a clear and demonstrated passion for helping under-served families in New Jersey. The ideal candidate will work full-time.
Qualifications
  • Annual fund and solicitation experience
  • Strong computer skills and experience with fundraising databases (Network for Good and OneCause a plus); experience with managing social media and creative design platforms such as Canva.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
  • High level of comfort dealing with various groups of people (i.e., donors, volunteers, public)
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years relevant fundraising and event experience
  • Exceptional time management, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to respect confidentiality
  • Major gift solicitation a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively without close supervision
Overview Of Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all outreach initiatives, including quarterly e-newsletter, social media presence on all channels, and creation of print and digital pieces, including an annual impact report.
  • Responsible for Annual Giving Program and other fundraising activities surrounding Diaper Need Awareness Week (DNAW), Mother’s Day, Period Poverty Awareness Week (PPAW) and Peer-to-Peer Campaigns. Includes coordination of all mailings, e-solicits, social media content as well as management of matching gift program and third-party charitable donation platforms.
  • Strong understanding and practice of cultural humility and respect for others
  • Candidate must be able to work independently but should also be a team player and work collaboratively.
  • Initiate and manage a new major donor campaign or assist in the execution of a major donor campaign as needed by a development consultant. Support all major gift donor engagement and recognition efforts.
  • Management of gift processing and donor database including maintaining contact information, and documenting, recognizing, and processing all donations in a timely manner.
  • Benefits include 15 PTO days per year and 11 paid holidays. There are no medical benefits at this time.
  • Assist Board of Directors and committees providing reports for meetings and resources to further extend the reach of organization’s fundraising and outreach initiatives.
  • Commitment to improving the lives of children and families in NJ and an eagerness to tackle the issues of diaper need and period poverty in our local communities
  • Contribute to and help execute public relations efforts as needed by the Public Relations Consultant
  • Manage all aspects of our primary fundraising gala, the Snow Ball. Including sponsorship, auction items, advertising solicitations, event outreach (mailings and evites), volunteer and committee management, guest tracking and seating, and all day-of logistics. Support as needed for Board or Young Professional Ambassador Council (YPAC) sponsored events or events surrounding key times of year i.e., Mother’s Day, DNAW and PPAW.
