Having a strong sketching ability, a deep understanding of fashion & trend and being digitally savvy are imperative to success in this role. This position is based at the New Balance Boston headquarters.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Work with lead designers/design managers to ensure consistency across footwear and apparel.
  • Works with Design Manager and product marketing team to develop concepts, sketches, and product ideation for assigned categories against product briefs within the deadlines established. Creates top sheets/colorway pages, technical sketch details for the development team to utilize in expediting apparel tech/spec packages.
  • Assist in setting category design vision.
  • Anchor designer for category
  • Prepare and deliver effective design presentations (visually and verbally) that sell ideas effectively. Assimilates constructive feedback with advanced active listening skills.
  • Participates in creative vision during off sites and other design events.
  • Translates market input into innovative designs. Incorporates fresh, contemporary market-right ideas into designs. Pushes design boundaries to incorporate innovate yet brand sensitive and pioneering ideas.


REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design or Fashion Design and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the apparel industry.
  • Must be deadline-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of apparel design, construction, materials, sourcing and commercialization.
  • 2D-3D drawing by hand or computer and have ability to visualize.
  • Required: Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop; InDesign a plus.
  • Strong skills in core design competencies: drawing and sketching, the ability to visualize in three dimensions.

Flexible Work Schedule

New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
