Description
Under the direct supervision of either a Senior or Lead Designer, the Interior Designer II performs work on basic segments of a project, develops interior design concepts and prepares associated documents on a variety of projects from schematic design through construction administration. This individual works independently, has capacity to make decisions and advise on direction; and may provide supervision to other interior design team members on projects.
Responsbilities
  • Assists in the detailed preparation of layouts for furniture, furnishings and equipment for both design and construction documents and solutions to general architectural related problems
  • Confers with clients, consultants, contractors and others during various stages of project development as necessary
  • Exhibits general knowledge of programming and workplace strategy
  • Checks and coordinates details and dimensions
  • Assist Project Director in developing project specific staff-hours and planning schedule for the interior design aspects of projects
  • Coordinate interior design requirements with architecture and engineering disciplines
  • Coordinate and prepare interior design documents for schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
  • Prepare and coordinate FF&E technical specifications and bid documents, as required by the contract
  • Prepare interior material concepts and material and furniture presentation boards
  • Develop solutions to design problems
  • Identify and include appropriate documentation
  • Plan and conduct work requiring independent judgment in evaluation, selection, adoption, and modification of interior design solutions, materials, products, and criteria
  • Performs basic model generation (drafting) and presentation work utilizing appropriate digital and non-digital methodologies
  • Assists in review of shop drawings, and submittals
  • Assure quality and completeness of contractor submittals
  • Through research, study, and consultation with outside consultants and professional societies, keep informed of new developments and systems as they influence the interior design field
  • Correct and update documents
  • Participate in the development and preparation of project conceptual designs and layouts

Position Requirements
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of materials, detailing, construction techniques
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement interior design and FF&E on projects of varying scale
  • General knowledge of interior design practice
  • Ability to use Revit and other computer-generated design software
  • 1 to 8 years general years of experience
  • Ability to work successfully in project teams
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related degree
  • Proven ability to participate in multiple projects
  • NCIDQ certification preferred
