Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care provides a diverse approach to treatment for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including those with multiple or complex oral health problems. The Orthodontics discipline focuses on the treatment of irregularities of the teeth, jaws, and bite relationship in children and adults.
Position Summary
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care is seeking a Dental Technician.
The Orthodontics Laboratory Manager is responsible for the fabrication of high-quality models and appliances used in the diagnosis, treatment, and retention of orthodontic malocclusions, dentofacial disharmonies, and craniofacial anomalies. This position assists the faculty in their teaching responsibilities in pre-doctoral and graduate classes and clinics, and manages all aspects of the lab including finances, staff, records, equipment, and reporting to departmental management. The position is expected to offer advice and plans to increase productivity and revenue by developing and implementing new technologies or techniques.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and two years related work experience; or completion of a two year dental laboratory technology training program; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Five years of related dental laboratory work experience, including orthodontic appliance fabrication.
At least one year of experience with 3D printing and dental software designed to process orthodontic casts and appliances.

Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Manual skills to perform appliance fabrication, ability to sit for prolonged periods, ability to work at a computer with a keyboard, ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
