SALARY RANGE: $65,000–$95,000 DOE
REPORTS TO: Division Heads & COO/CFO
WORK LOCATION: Mercer Island, Washington
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is central to every aspect of FASPS and our community, and we plan to see the role
develop and grow within our school. This is a leadership role that places emphasis on building
relationships. The DEI and Wellbeing Leader reports to the Division Heads. For matters related to
Human Resource policies and procedures, the Leader reports to the COO/CFO.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
• Work with the Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, and staff to ensure FASPS lives its
mission, vision, values, and diversity statement to create a community of bilingual learners
working together in a safe and challenging learning environment that encourages diversity,
equity, inclusion, and belonging through restorative-based processes, respect, integrity, and
responsibility within individual and group contexts.
- Engage and participate in the DEI Council and Committee, creating a liaison between these

- Form and foster leadership, expertise, community outreach, service learning, and partnerships
within the FASPS community that extend from local to international organizations that support
our students and mission.
- Possess an understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and needs of French-speaking and
across these individuals and groups within bilingual and international contexts.
- Collaborate with directors, educational leadership, documentalist / librarian, the Student Success
student learning equity, enrich curriculum, extracurricular opportunities, and other learning
activities that will enhance representation, build cultural agility, and increase access for all
students to learning opportunities.
- Clarify and establish pathways for our FASPS community’s voices on sensitive topics.
- Lead the community in the creation and maintenance of a DEI curriculum with scope and

- Organize displays, especially around celebratory / DEI-themed days, weeks, and months.
- Advise on policy creation related to recruitment, harassment, communication, and educational

- Help develop, support, monitor, and evaluate appropriate responses to bias-based incidents and

The French American School of Puget Sound (FASPS) is an independent day school located on Mercer
Island, serving students 18 months of age through grade 8 with a bilingual program taught in both
French and English. Founded in 1995 by a small group of educators and Francophiles, FASPS opened
its doors with two teachers and 13 students. Today, FASPS welcomes 445 students whose families
come from around the world, representing more than 50 different nationalities and speaking more
than 20 different languages at home. FASPS is fully accredited by the French Ministry of National
Education and the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS).
