Under general direction from the Dock Trackers and Management team, this position is considered to be the essential part of the sightseeing tour team.

The Deckhand/ Narrator is responsible for examining lifesaving equipment and informing the Captain of defective gear of equipment. Primarily work with the crew engaged in cleaning and maintaining decks, superstructure and bridge vessel. The Deckhand/ Narrator need to assist the Captain with safety duties.

The Deckhand/ Narrator is responsible for entertaining the guest and narrating the sightseeing cruise. It will be the primary responsibility to serve as the tour guide for all sightseeing tours and as the main point of entertainment for the whole cruise narrating along Biscayne Bay to include Fisher Island, Star Island, the port of Miami and downtown Miami’s history. The time spent on various task will vary based on the flow of business. This position requires an extremely energetic person with a strong emphasis in customer service and hospitality.

Due to the nature of our business this position is required to work a flexible schedule varying from morning, day, evening, overnight shifts and holidays.

The day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

ü With instruction and supervision from the Captain, become familiar with the handling characteristic of the vessel and maintain an awareness of all safety measures aboard the vessel

ü Ensure that each guest receives outstanding guest service by providing a guest friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.

  • Follow approved narration and include a personal entertaining touch.
  • Monitor passengers throughout shift specifically on upper deck/stairway and make sure none are violating safety procedures
  • Must have knowledge of PA system ( must check with Captain if its can be turn ON or OFF)
  • Interact with passenger to maintain a fun and interesting atmosphere.
  • Must ready with job equipment (microphone, Radio and clicker)
  • Assist mate and Captain with passenger safety and all necessary assignments

The requirements for this position include but are not limited to:

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to fluently speak, read, write and understand English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of local area and interesting facts
  • Knowledge of products, services and hours of operation
  • Follow communication etiquette guidelines at all times
  • Simple Navigation knowledge
  • Able to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with all customers, team members and management

Physical Demands and Appearance

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
  • Required to work the boat yard if needed
  • Ability to stand and exert well-paced ability
  • Can be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per grooming standards
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment with various weather conditions regularly

Credential ans Experience

  • Basic Safety Training / First Aid Training
  • Previous boat handling experience
  • CPR Certified preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour
