Job title: Deck Hand

Reporting to: Master Captain

FLSA: Non-Exempt

ROLE PROFILE

Deck Hand will be successful when:

  • When a safe and enjoyable atmosphere is provided for both guests and team members.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

DAILY OPERATIONS

  • Aids Captain in accurate record keeping and counts
  • Familiar with all duties under the company safety management, including Emergency Response
  • Conducts security patrols and reports any issues to the Captain
  • Assist with the vessels boarding process and line handling
  • Able to assist the team when necessary to ensure positive guest experience
  • Responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the interior and exterior of vessels
  • Primes and paint vessel as assigned
  • Ability to get along with co-workers and support a team environment
  • Assures a neat and tidy workspace both at the dock and on board the vessel
  • Participate and apply procedural safety trainings
  • Comfortable working in front of the public
  • Maintains company standards of appearance and cleanliness
  • Sweeps deck, washes windows, and empties trash receptacles
  • Participates in on board safety training, meetings and drills, as directed by the Captain, including fire, abandon ship, man overboard, flooding and medical emergencies
  • Assists with any possible guest issues both on land and while underway
  • Informs and ensures safe behaviors by all passengers

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong time management skills: able to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadline
  • Detail oriented and thorough: able to follow through on assigned tasks
  • Works well under pressure
  • Good customer service skills: professional demeanor, ability to use necessary levels of tact and courtesy
  • Able to work independently using initiative and creativity to complete tasks

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands for this position are sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodation.
