Position Information

Job Title: Dean of Students for Residential Life

Type: Full Time

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

· The key responsibility of the Dean of Students is to help run an exceptional residential program that gradually builds students’ social, emotional and physical health and independence.

· Supports behavioral interventions for students.

· Provide support to the Residential Mentors for student behaviors.

· Building/fostering a culture that is based upon trauma-informed interventions for student behavior through coaching and monitoring.

· Mentor, and when needed, discipline students to help support their growth mentally, academically, and socially

· Keenly Monitor and track student behavior, including detailed oriented and timely execution of all related and required paperwork and communication.

· Liaise with appropriate academic personnel regarding student issues

· Maintain a balance between administrative workload and student interactions

· Investigate student complaints and incident and keep required reports

· Support staff and student issues and conflicts with appropriate intervention and counseling

· Support maintenance of confidential student records

· Ensure constant communication with parents and families

· Set a positive example by being a role model for students in the program

· Support monitoring of evening detention

· Foster strong relationships between students and staff

· Work with the School Leader to ensure constant communication between the school and the residence

· Assist other directors with student affairs and behavior

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

· Knowledge or background in working with children and youth

· Strong communication skills

· Enthusiasm and patience for working with middle and high school age students

· Willingness to work hard and with fidelity

· Ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment

· Well organized

· Detail-oriented writing skills

· Has experience in a residential program (desired, but not required)

Accountability: This position is accountable to the Director of Residential Life

Pay: $40,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
