Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:Lake Area Technical College is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the role of Dean of Student Services. The Dean of Student Services will be a key leader responsible for overseeing and enhancing a comprehensive range of student-centered programs and services that contribute to the academic success, personal development, and overall well-being of our diverse student population.


Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelors degree or higher in education, education administration, student services, student affairs or a similar field.

``` 2. Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in student services or related areas in higher education. 3. Strong understanding of operational planning, student and policy development, budget management, resource allocation, counseling practices, and needs assessment. 4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. 5. Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of professionals. 6. Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.

Perform other duties as assigned by the President. 12. Bilingual a plus. 13. National Career Readiness Certificate Level Gold or higher a plus.

Performance Responsibilities


Leadership and Strategy:Lead student services teams to ensure strong student experiences from recruitment through career placement. Responsible for overall direction of registration, admissions and recruiting, counseling, career and employment services, retention, special


populations, student life/activities, and financial aid. Collaborate with college administration and other campus departments to align student services with the college\'s mission, goals, and values.


Student Support Services:Overseeing the delivery of various student support services, including academic advising, career counseling, and more. Developing and implementing programs that promote student retention, persistence, and success.


Student Development:Creating opportunities for student development through co-curricular and extracurricular activities, clubs, and organizations. Fostering a vibrant campus community that encourages student engagement and involvement. Ensuring that all students have equal access to resources and opportunities.


Planning and Coordination: Plan and coordinate graduation, admission/college visits, camps, campus events, new student orientation, staff meetings, and special events that Lake Area Tech hosts or is part of. Coordinate the development of student-focused printed and electronic material.


Intervention and Student Support:Developing and implementing processes for identifying and addressing students\' personal, academic, and social challenges. Coordinating appropriate interventions and referrals for students facing crises or emergencies.


Collaboration and Partnerships:Collaborating with academic departments to support students\' academic progress and success. Establishing partnerships with external organizations and agencies to enhance student services and opportunities.


Compliance and Policies:Ensuring compliance with relevant federal and state regulations related to student services. Developing and implementing student services policies that align with legal requirements and best practices. Manage and interpret data relating to all student servic s functions. Analyze information and craft strategic efforts to improve performance of student services in collaboration with other departments of the college.


Budget Management:Developing and managing the budget for the Student Services division, including resource allocation and fiscal responsibility.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative contract over 12 months with compensation set by the Watertown School Board.
