Job Description
Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. CO+I is responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. We are looking to fill the role of Datacenter Site Construction Manager. This candidate is ultimately responsible for the project delivery for the site location. The Datacenter Site Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring the project meets Microsoft guidelines and standards, which may be adjusted from time-to-time based on best practices and lessons learned drawn from previous projects as well as industry changing best practice.

The Datacenter Site Construction Manager will coordinate with the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team and support specialty consultants to update and provide feedback based on design (BOD). In supporting the delivery of projects, this position aligns team objectives, business processes, General Contractor (GC) and vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts with the Datacenter Development (DCD) project strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate key needs to the engineering and sourcing teams.
  • Validate vendor pay-application and invoice review and approval.
  • Responsible for establishing a safe & effective site culture.
  • Accountability:
    • Responsible for establishing a safe & effective site culture.
    • Responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on safety, scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Direct fiscal responsibility for the approved project budget.
    • Work independently in support of the DCD project.
  • Review and approval of vendor scope of work, and design review of site and building plans.
  • Coordinate meetings and activities of vendors, cost managers, and integration of lessons learned.
  • Facilitate decision-making to drive solutions, schedules, and manage change as required.
  • Report Project Progress on scope, schedule, and budget weekly or as required.
  • Vendor Management and contract compliance:
    • Provide Vendor oversight and performance management by walking the construction sites daily.
    • Preparation of Request for Proposal (RFP’s), PER’s, and other project approval tools & templates.
    • Review and approval of vendor scope of work, and design review of site and building plans.

    • Manage compliance with prior audit results and recommendations.
  • Manage GC(s) and vendor performance along with their integration with internal partners to ensure on time and on budget project delivery.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years experience in the development of Datacenter project construction with large-scale datacenters or datacenter lease providers.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to independently manage deadlines and support staff.
  • Experience managing multiple large multi-faceted projects.
  • Construction Health & Safety Knowledge.
  • Ability to influence cross-discipline teams.
Construction Project Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.
