The Database Technician is responsible to for the ongoing support of existing Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) projects and the creation of new SSIS import routines, as well as Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that scheduled/automated SSIS projects are running successfully per defined schedules.
- Manually process and import data files on both a regular and ad-hoc basis. This may require modification (clean up) of source files provided in Excel or CSV formats that fail pre-import validation.
- Troubleshoot SSIS failures when they occur, making changes to project definitions and/or source data to address the immediate business need, as well as any other changes necessary to restore the automated solution.
- Create new SSIS import routines based on defined scope of work. In most cases, new routines are variations on existing routines, with modifications based on source data or other requirements.
- Modify existing (and create new) SSRS reports to support business unit managers as well as customers. Create new and modify existing SSRS report subscriptions, as requested.
- Troubleshoot SSRS failures when they occur, making changes to report definitions and/or source data to address the immediate business need as well as any other changes necessary.
- Perform ad-hoc database queries to locate requested data and/or generate one-time reports, on as needed basis.

- Ability to blend creativity, problem solving, and technical skills to support business needs.
- A desire and capability to learn, maintaining a positive and constructive attitude.
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or a minimum one year of professional experience.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2008/2012/2014), including SQL data types, table definitions, stored procedures, TSQL queries, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
