  • The office for this position is located at the Harry S Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, MO. 65101.

About this Position:

This position as Database Developer is with the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) supporting the Department of Corrections (DOC). This role is responsible for running queries, loading data, and create custom SQL solutions which move and transform data to ensure DOC data accuracy and availability. It involves working on new projects, working tickets, and creating and maintaining documentation for training purposes. Duties may also include data modeling and database work.
The successful candidate must be motivated and a problem solver who has the ability to work independently or in a team environment. They must also have a desire to continually develop new skills through self-study and assigned training or attendance at user group presentations. In this role they will have the opportunity to deliver meaningful impact supporting DOC and the citizens of Missouri.

This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting Department of Corrections (DOC).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Analyze, solve, and correct production issues and provide documentation.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries and system data databases, relationships, indexes, views, tables and fields.
  • Create, adhere to and enforce technical standards.
  • Analyze, design, develop, peer review, test and implement code for projects.
  • Develop and support complex stored procedures and custom functions.
  • Communicate with business users to establish database and report requirements.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of data modeling and design. Ability to think methodically and critically. Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve database performance issues. Ability to organize work assignments and multi-task.

  • Knowledge of data warehousing, data architecture and design concepts with practical experience in the implementation of these concepts.
  • Design of databases, including relationships, indexes, views, tables and fields.
  • Strong data investigation and problem solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, be organized, self-motivated, have the ability to work on a team or independently as required, and the desire to continually develop new skills and improve existing skills.
  • SQL query performance tuning.
  • SQL and DB2LUW knowledge preferred.
  • Development of SQL agent jobs and complex stored procedures.
