PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Data Entry Specialist (DES) is a professional responsible for transferring paper formats, and or computer files into the customer database systems. The DES is responsible for entering existing customer provided data into an electronic format, updating existing entries, and organizing course control documents for use in US Navy instructional systems. Attention to detail, impeccable organizational skills coupled with a razor-sharp eye for detail and excellent communication skills are a must.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards, data recorders or optical scanners
  • Update existing data
  • Type in data provided directly from customers
  • Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested
  • Adhering to best data management practices and maintain the highest standard of accuracy and efficiency
  • Sort and organize paperwork after entering data
  • Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation
  • Verify data by comparing it to source documents
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will collaboratively work with other DES’s and Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Actively participate in internal processes and collaborate with teams to ensure adequate translation of subject matter
  • Basic understanding of databases
  • Able to effectively communicate with Subject Matter Experts, Stakeholders, and Customers
  • Knowledge of design methodology guidelines for learning products
  • Flexible to constant change and effectively handles unexpected events
  • Knowledge of the development of instructional materials such as lesson plans, handouts, examinations, and other learning aides for instructor-led, online, and blended learning solutions
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices
  • Able to translate ideas into clear written and visual materials/communication
  • Establish and comply with quality assurance and configuration management practices with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.)
  • Fast typing skills; Knowledge of touch typing system is strongly preferred
  • Good command of English both oral and written and customer service skills
  • Able to instruct, present, and facilitate live and/or virtual events with SMEs, stakeholders and customers
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office360, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and an aptitude to learn business applications
  • Associate degree, with 5+ years’ experience
