Data Engineer Senior Advisor

GDIT is seeking highly motivated Data Engineer to join our growing team to define and support our mission-critical programs for our DHS customer. The successful candidate(s) will provide support and insights to help our client turn data into action. Your work will provide transformative solutions to our clients’ big-data obstacles and help advance the mission.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to gather information on their data infrastructure needs
• Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
• Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
• Extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) skills
• Understanding of analytic data architectures
• Design systems to consolidate and analyze diverse data sets
• Collecting, managing, and converting raw data into information that can be interpreted by data scientists and business analysts
• Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies
• DHS CBP BI full adjudication required
  • USCIS or ICE clearances will be considered
• Master’s degree (MA or MS) and 10+ years related experience
• U.S. Citizenship
• Ability to quickly learn new data tools and ideas
• Understanding and experience with ETL concepts and tools
• Experience building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition
• Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata
• USCIS or ICE clearances will be considered
• Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions
• Ability to build and optimize data sets, ‘big data’ data pipelines and architectures
• Excellent analytic skills associated with working on unstructured datasets
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
