Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners, L.P. (“MS AIP”) is Morgan Stanley Investment Management’s alternative investments group. MS AIP consists of three units – the Hedge Funds Solutions Group, the Private Equity Fund of Funds Group, and the Real Estate Fund of Funds Group. MS AIP is staffed with over 150 employees. It is based in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Philadelphia), with additional offices in New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, London, and Hong Kong.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data issues including performing analysis and investigating root causes
  • Work with front office investment analysts, backend IT engineers, and a wide range of vendors and internal teams
  • Monitor and maintain constantly changing data sets for new asset classes and manage data across a variety of systems
  • Manage, maintain and optimize big data used in prescriptive and predictive modeling
  • Integrate multiple raw data sets into useful data systems

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Fast learner and ability to quickly learn new data sets and systems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of R/Tidyverse and/or Python/Pandas
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods to work with large data sets
  • Experience with APIs, SQL database design, Python, Java and/or R programming
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and track record of successfully collaborating with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL to facilitate work in relational databases
  • Understanding of financial instruments and core investment concepts
