Job Description
Assist to effectively plan, organize, lead, coordinate, and optimize the materials and human resources in the department to provide variety and high quality merchandise that is appealingly displayed to maximize the sales and profit of the grocery department while maintaining great customer service. To learn all aspects of managing the grocery department and to function as the department manager in his/her absence.


Pay for this position starts at $15.00 - $16.88 / hour.

The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by the company.


  • Utilize all the techniques specified in training to properly bag customer orders.
  • Carry/push groceries in a shopping cart to the customer’s vehicle, and assist loading groceries into the vehicle (when and if applicable).
  • Ensure company standards of cleanliness, safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are achieved.
  • Participate actively in controlling shrink (loss of profit), checking the bottom of carriages, shoplifting awareness, associate theft, and perishable overstock control.
  • Promote the company image as a service-oriented operation where every associate will greet, assist, render efficient service and thank customers in a prompt, courteous, friendly, and business-like manner.
  • Keep work area clean and neat and replace cleaning and bagging supplies in the checkout lane.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with management and fellow associates to build a strong customer service team.
  • Assist customers in unloading their purchases onto the conveyor belt at the checkout (when and if applicable).
  • Notify customer service manager or assistant customer service manager of any problems customer inquiries or complaints, potential security problems, shrink problems within the store, perishable overstock at check stand (returns), or any unusual problems or situations.
  • Collect shopping carts from the parking lot and other areas and return them to designated area, being sure to remove flyers and other debris.


Secondary Job Functions


  • Service Clerks may be scheduled as Lot Attendants, with the following requirements
  • Proactively providing incredible customer service by offering to assist customers with their grocery purchases.
  • Other duties as assigned by the management team.
  • Keeping shopping carts clean and dry, wiping them down in the snow or rain.
  • Maintaining the appearance and safety of the parking lot, sidewalk, and lobby.
  • Ensuring customers have easy access to shopping carts.
