Responsibilities


The Opportunity


PCG’s Education Consulting service line seeks Curriculum Writers for a highly complex and exciting English Language Arts (ELA) digital and print curriculum development project. The project provides motivated individuals a unique opportunity to support educators and students in actualizing Florida ’s B.E.S.T . standards and accessing culturally positive and relevant texts , through the delivery of high-quality curricular resources in a digital and print environment. Curriculum writers will engage in a highly creative, iterative, and collaborative development process and produce lessons that are rigorous, engaging, and meaningful to students. Specific responsibilities and skill/experience requirements are detailed below. This is a remote, work-from-home temporary role starting August/September 202 3 with an expected duration of 12 months .


About PCG’s Education Consulting Service Line


PCG’s Education Consulting Service Line works with states, districts, and schools to address a wide spectrum of needs such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews. 


Recent p roject engagements have included a collaborat ion with Chicago Public Schools (IL) to develop a full-year, standards-aligned digital curriculum for PK–12 English Language Arts and mathematics . We ar e providing asynchronous and synchronous professional learning to teachers and administrators to support implementation. We also recently developed a K–2 ELA curriculum in partnership with Pinellas County Schools (FL) to support their transition to the new Florida B.E.S.T standards. Currently, w e are partnering with the Texas Education Agency to develop and/or revise several curricula to respond to stakeholder feedback, including K–12 Reading Language Arts, K–6 Spanish Language Arts, K–5 Mathematics, K–5 Social Studies, K–2 Spanish Skills, K–5 Science, and K–5 Integrated (Science, Social Studies, Reading Language Arts).  Additionally, we are engaged in the New York City Department of Education Hidden Voices initiative , develop ing K-12 English language arts mini-units that center the voices and experiences of Americans with Disabilities, Asian-American Pacific Islanders, and Latinos .


The Role


Responsibilities and expectations of Curriculum Writers include the following .


  • Develop deliverables that comply with specific design criteria and for implementation in a digital and print environment.
  • Commitment for the duration of the project ( anticipated to be 1 2 months ) wi th potential opportunity for future work.
  • Develop grades K –2 English Language Arts curriculum, including core lessons and additional review and challenge lessons to support the development of literacy skills.
  • Participate in a highly collaborative and rapid development process, which includes regular engagement with team members, peer review, client feedback, and other formative feedback.
  • Availability during regular work week, with some night or weekend work as needed.

Required/Desired Experience


  • Experience with digital learning instructional design (Prefer red)
  • E xperience teaching diverse learners in elementary classroom ( s ) , including English Language L earners and students with disabilities
  • Experience with WIDA ( Preferred )
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Experience developing curricular resources for use by other s
  • Experience with digital learning instructional design (Preferred)
  • Experience with Florida ’s B.E.S.T . standards and/or college - and career - ready standards
  • Familiarity with Google Drive (Preferred)


Compensation


Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $80,000 - $90,000 annually.
