Pulse Clinical Alliance is hiring a CT Tech in Flat Rock, NC!


Mental & Visual Demands


Ability to prepare reports, coordinate programs, and evaluate other data against both judgmental and verifiable criteria. Ability to read and evaluate technical and medical instructions in print, meters, and digital screen displays, and respond to this information for adjustment of patient handling and safety-related actions. Ability to observe, recognize, and verbally describe technical and general patient conditions to medical staff and co-workers. Ability to verbally explain procedures, schedule patients and equipment, cope calmly and politely to stressful situations and keep information strictly confidential


Work Environment


The Imaging Center, including all areas of patient care associated with the delivery of radiological imaging services and acute and trauma areas; CT, Radiology, Emergency Department, Nursing Floors, Surgical areas including Day Surgery and the main Operating Rooms/PACU. This is a tobacco-free campus. In the event of inclement weather this position is classified as an essential position. All essential personnel are expected to be at work during inclement weather.


Nature Of Work


Routine and acute trauma patient care using ionizing radiation emitting devices in restricted areas of The Imaging Center, Radiology and CT sections, Surgical Suites, Recovery Areas, or at patient bedside. Exposure to blood and other body emesis-born pathogens. Uses Computed Tomography systems and/or Radiographic and Fluoroscopic imaging devices. Prints films and CDs/DVDs. Use of automatic pressure injectors for contrast media injections. Proficient use of CR, HIS/RIS/PACS, and tele-radiology networking. Assesses patient imaging needs for sequencing, equipment selection and settings, and scheduling. Performs at a level requiring minimal direct supervision. Primary patient contact is adult in nature with less than 10% being pediatric. As required, assumes responsibility for delegated designated imaging areas within scope of training. Ability to work long or irregular hours in order to maintain staffing requirements to meet patient care needs is essential. Provides emergency callback coverage as assigned/needed in the event of acute patient demands or Radiology/CT staffing shortages. Performs dual functions as Radiology and CT Technologist.


Expected Wage


$28-35 an hour dependent on shift, experience, education, etc. Shifts available are Second and Third.


Required Qualifications


  • Graduate of an AMA approved and or JRCERT and SACS accredited school of Radiologic


Technology.


  • Pass the Advanced Examination in CT as administered by the ARRT within 18 months of employment
  • Registered in Radiography by the ARRT; RT(R).


if working in CT; RT(R)(CT).


  • Current CPR
  • Qualified to perform venipuncture.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous experience with CT scanning and performing R&F procedures


Responsibilities


  • Selects and operates equipment systems as specified in operations manuals, procedure manuals,


and as directed for the purpose of medical radiological imaging for patients presenting for routine


or acute CT, radiographic &/or fluoroscopic procedures, trauma and/or portable R&F procedures and


surgical R&F procedures.


  • Operates CT equipment to adequately perform all head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine,


extremity, and all other CT scan protocols. Utilizes CT and R&F systems, CR, PACS and all Imaging


network devices to produce required images. Uses PACS & tele-radiology effectively. Prints films


and CDs/DVDs as needed.


  • Performs venipuncture and bolus injections of radiopaque contrast media via pressure


injector, and/or by hand. Assists physician in administering radiopaque IV contrast media.


  • Provides the Radiologist with pertinent patient history for contrast selection and ensures


signed consent is obtained after patients are informed about the risks involved.


  • Willingly rotates within the section by shift and assignment as required or directed.
  • Practices aseptic and isolation techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Cleans CT areas, including the pressure injector. Cleans x-ray rooms.
  • Individual Image Reject rate must be less than 5%.
  • Deals with patients in a courteous and timely manner and provides a friendly reception.
  • Provides radiation protection in accordance with written safety standards.


Promotes positive working atmosphere in the section. Performs clerical duties and transports


patients as necessary/directed to maintain adequate patient flow. Participates in real time and


emergency relief and call duties in CT.


  • Performs other job related functions as directed and/or delegated by the Director of Imaging


Services, Radiologists, or Medical Staff. Participates in Performance Improvement activities as


required/directed.


  • Provides coverage for the performance of Radiology imaging procedures in the O.R. as


needed/directed by the Radiology Imaging Coordinator and/or Director of Imaging Services.


  • Successfully pass annual competencies and department specific safety practices to remain in


compliance with TJC standards. Assures all legal compliance aspects of the job are satisfied.


  • Observes CTDI vol projections for CT procedures prior to beginning CT scan.


MISCELLANEOUS


  • Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures those related to compliance, general and


patient safety, infection control, ethical conduct, and personnel policies & procedures.


  • Maintains acceptable attendance which includes providing proper notification and advance


notice for absence/tardiness. Returns from breaks & lunch promptly.
