Job Description
Minimum Qualifications


Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-11 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.


To qualify for transfer under Section 70.4 of Civil Service Law, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated to SG-11 or higher, a bachelor’s degree or higher in correctional studies, criminal justice, criminal science, criminology, forensic mental health, forensics, justice studies, law and society, law enforcement, legal studies, psychology, public justice, sociology, or a related field AND a passing score on a current or previous PCO or PATT exam.


Candidates eligible for 55b/c appointment with a bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the fields listed above are encouraged to apply.


Duties Description


Under the supervision of the Crime Analysis Center Technology Coordinator, with guidance and direction from the Program Manager and Deputy Commissioner within the Office of Crime Analysis and Strategic Partnership (OCASP), the Criminal Justice Program Specialist 1 will support Crime Analysis Center technology operations ultimately ensuring law enforcement technologies are available to support community police services. Specific duties include but are not limited to:


  • Prepare materials for Crime Analysis Center Directors meetings and quarterly Board meetings as requested
  • Track and maintain user lists
  • Verify the request is appropriate and valid
  • Approx. 150-200 users statewide
  • Assign user access and appropriate rights
  • Coordinate training if required
  • Receive and process requests for access
  • Will also be point of contact for future LPR integration initiatives
  • Conduct field visits to Crime Analysis Centers as needed and as requested
  • Manage access requests and changes daily
  • Track and maintain user lists
  • Manage user licenses for all tools implemented across the network
  • Assist with the annual Public Safety Symposium
  • Assist in coordinating webinars and other online trainings
  • Verify request is appropriate and valid
  • Receive and process user requests
  • Manage users of the vast LPR network
  • Ensure users have appropriate training
  • Manage the Forcepoint Data Analyzer (FDA) system users
  • Assign appropriate level of access
  • At the direction of the Technology Coordinator, complete monthly system usage audits and disseminate as necessary
  • License Plate Recognition (LPR) system administration
  • Assist in creating and posting information in network SharePoint


Additional Comments


This position may be filled as two-year traineeship leading to Criminal Justice Program Specialist 1, SG-18.


Required travel is approximately 10%.
