8.0 hours per day, 12 months per year

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current WISHA approved first aid certification.
  • Five years directly related supervisory and facility experience with building maintenance trades work in a similar size school district or other organization may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
  • Two year AA or Technical degree in a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Experience with current office technology (e.g., computers, fax, copier, GroupWise, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent customer service skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Participate in district supervisory training.
  • Work in a flexible and cooperative manner.
  • Ensure contract, policy, and regulation compliance when making employment decisions.
  • Assist the Director of Facility Maintenance and Operations, the Maintenance Supervisor and the Human Resources staff in decisions concerning interviewing, hiring, and promotion of Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Staff.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and staff and practice the behaviors that are expected of our students.
  • Provide direction and assume responsibility in emergency situations.
  • Manage buildings and grounds maintenance budget.
  • Develop long range plans and schedules for preventative maintenance and repair activities. Ensure goals are reached.
  • Coordinate and assign the work of buildings and grounds maintenance employees. Organize and assign multi-skilled teams to accomplish preventive maintenance and repair projects.
  • Review time sheets, leaves, and audit payroll records.
  • Resolve complaints concerning buildings and grounds maintenance services.
  • Approve leave requests for the buildings and grounds maintenance staff.
  • Provide resources and guidance that will enable subordinates to accomplish their job requirements as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Implement district policies, procedures and applicable state regulations, keeping current material safety data sheet booklet for all hazardous materials used by buildings and grounds maintenance personnel. Train personnel in the safe use of hazardous materials. Assist safety committee chairperson in monthly safety meetings.
  • Assist in compiling, analyzing, and developing specifications for maintenance and repair work to be contracted; obtain cost quotes and/or bids. Assist in evaluating bids received.
  • Direct the buildings and grounds preventive maintenance and repair function for the entire district. Work closely with district administrators. Oversee all job assignments.
  • Perform duties required of a Crew leader in the performance and discipline process. Assist in the performance and discipline process as needed and as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, the Director of Facility Maintenance and Operations and the Executive Director of Human Resources. Communicate orally and/or in writing as performance and/or discipline concerns deem necessary. Strong writing skills are essential.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Benefits/Compensation:

Salary range: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service in a similar occupational status from other Washington School Districts or Education School Districts, may receive experience credit towards salary placement.
