Benefits to you

  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $22.51 - $34.93.
  • In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD the first two steps of the salary range. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.

Position Highlights
The
Columbia County Circuit Court
in Saint Helens, Oregon, is hiring a Family Law Clerk (Court Operations Associate) to join the team in our Operations unit.
In this role, you will be the data entry clerk for family law case types such as domestic relations, support enforcement, protective orders, and juvenile dependency. You will review pleadings for accuracy and completeness, update case information, and enter documents into the case management system. You will also prepare court forms, review and approve documents for the judge’s signature, monitor reports, track pending cases, scan documents, verify and enter judgments, and maintain a reference manual.
You will collaborate, in person, over the phone, and in writing, with judges, court staff, other departments and courts, attorneys, parties, law enforcement officials, and the public to exchange information and explain data, policies, procedures, and options relating to court operations. You will also respond to difficult complaints and requests for information.
Part of your time will be spent as a cashier or providing coverage for the jury coordinator or the front counter clerks as needed.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
AND
At least three (3) years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
OR
Any combination of
education and experience
equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Working Conditions
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing may be required; frequent walking and using stairs.
  • Occasionally lifting items that weigh less than 20 pounds.
