ABOUT THE ROLE

CoStar is looking for a talented and driven Copy Editor to join our growing market analytics team covering the fast-paced commercial real estate industry.

As a Copy Editor, you will be responsible for reviewing and editing the written analytic content by our team of market analysts throughout Canada and the United States and occasionally copy coming from the United Kingdom. Our editors’ job is to ensure the analytics content, be it news stories, market reports, LoopNet narratives or other pieces written by this team conforms to CoStar's style. It needs to be easily digestible and grammatically clean. In short, you will help enforce copy and style guidelines across all editorial functions and review CoStar’s analytics coverage for grammar, spelling, usage and style.

You will be part of a small editor team and report to a Managing Director.

Previous editing experience in analytic research or content for a daily or weekly publication is essential. This role will be based in our Atlanta, GA office in an optional hybrid work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with a large and diverse team of analysts in ways that help to improve their written content and assist with their writing more effectively and efficiently.
  • Edit analytic commercial real estate market reports written by our team of analysts.
  • Edit LoopNet narratives, as needed.
  • Assist in the news-editing process by correcting grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors and making sure the content written by our analysts fits News’ standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree in journalism, communications, English or a related discipline preferred.
  • Ideal candidates will also be experienced in reviewing and copy-editing a variety of news styles and formats, including straightforward hard news, profiles of industry leaders, and longer report based analytic research pieces.
  • Two or more years of proven copy-editing experience, preferably for a daily or weekly business publication with extensive experience in a copy-editing or proofreading role, preferably analytic content.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage both up and down the management chain.
  • An ability to adapt and learn the different dynamics and styles for our different types of content. News stories, market reports, and LoopNet narratives all have a set of guidelines and standards. The ability to bounce from one set of style rules to another is necessary. You will be taught the differences. For News, we adhere to the AP News Style Guide.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

When you join CoStar Group, you’ll experience a collaborative and innovative culture working alongside the best and brightest to empower our people and customers to succeed.

We offer you generous compensation and performance-based incentives. CoStar Group also invests in your professional and academic growth with internal training, tuition reimbursement, and an inter-office exchange program.

Our benefits package includes (but is not limited to):

  • 401(K) retirement plan with matching contributions
  • Complimentary gourmet coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fresh fruit, and other healthy snacks
  • On-site fitness center and/or reimbursed fitness center membership costs (location dependent), with yoga studio, personal training, group exercise classes
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage: Medical / Vision / Dental / Prescription Drug

  • Virtual and in person mental health counseling services for individuals and family
  • Paid time off
  • Life, legal, and supplementary insurance
  • Access to CoStar Group’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Employee Resource Groups
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Commuter and parking benefits

We welcome all qualified candidates who are currently eligible to work full-time in the United States to apply. However, please note that CoStar Group is not able to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
