Job Description

  • Directly coordinates and controls the flow of all medical record information requests submissions and office operations.

    • Responsible for the direct coordination of the completeness, accuracy and timely submission of all medical data and supporting documentation related to the release of information and operations processes.


    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    1. Ensures that medical record data is submitted on a timely basis by monitoring the quality and control of record retrieval and submission within the designated time frames.
    2. Must be able to monitor and maintain deadlines for submitting medical information, birth/death information, etc.
    3. Maintains tables and/or databases in established software program.
    4. Enters required data into tracking tool to ensure accurate record keeping.
    5. Runs monthly and ad hoc reports for management to track activity, quality and turnaround time frames.
    6. Responsible for monitoring quality of employee work performance including meeting productivity goals, errors, and maintaining all quality reporting functions.
    7. Coordinate daily operations work flow.
    8. Train, educate, orientate employees and new hire employees.
    9. Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


  • Work performed under time constraints requiring quick turnaround.
  • Work requires close attention to detail and the ability to interpret documents in the medical record.
  • Must possess and demonstrate working knowledge and ability to work with computers and software programs including excel spreadsheets.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of (patient) medical record (EMR) components and releasing patient information.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, attorneys, patients, families, and insurance companies in order to gain their cooperation.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of medical records experience, required.
  • Associates degree in Health Information Technology preferred.


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:


Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), preferred.
