Student Services Professional II


Responsibilities & Duties


Assists with the recruitment of a qualified undergraduate and graduate student body. Maintains contact with prospective students, applicants, counselors, and parents regarding the admission and application process. Responsible for the coordination, development, implementation, and assessment of daily campus tours and the group visitor program. Provides admission information and general admission counseling to prospective students and applicants via phone, email, and in person. Assists in the development and maintenance of a framework for communication for prospective students, applicants, admits, and counselors that is sequential and consistent in message and tone. Assists in the collection and synthesis of data to assist leadership on enrollment related decisions. Recruits, develops and oversees work assignments, and assists in evaluating Student Ambassador Program employees (and if necessary other admission and recruitment student assistants). Works closely with the Student Ambassador’s to develop recruitment videos, photo shoots, and serve on student panels, etc. Develops and monitors program budget to ensure expenditures are appropriate. Represents CSUCI at various recruitment events on and off campus. When necessary, makes admissions eligibility determinations using appropriate criteria, including knowledge and experience of records, transcripts, and official documents. On occasion, visits local community college and high schools. Assists and lends support to the ongoing assignments of other colleagues within the Admissions & Recruitment office when necessary. Performs additional related duties as assigned.


Requirements Of Position


A bachelor's degree is required; a master’s degree in a related field is preferred. Knowledge of CSU admission policies and procedures preferred.


Must be able to effectively counsel and advise students, parents, and other counselors regarding the admission process and provide accurate and timely information. Must be able to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, administrators, counselors, and staff and be able to work on projects both individually and as a member of a group. Knowledge and ability to use analytical problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to work creatively and independently. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, direct, and train others in the formation, maintenance, and support of student and ancillary programs and services. Knowledge and experience working successfully and providing leadership within culturally diverse and historically underserved communities. Ability to plan, direct, delegate, assess, and determine program functions, setting deadlines and completing projects accordingly. Ability to work collaboratively in the development and administration of program areas. Knowledge of effective work policies, practices, and procedures. Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse, multi-cultural environment of students, staff, faculty, and academic programs across the University. Ability to design support programs to meet organizational objectives. Proficiency in the use of computers, including appropriate software (e.g. Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft). Must be willing to work flexible hours in order to participate in evening and weekend meetings and programs with advanced notice.


Valid Driver's license and reliable form of transportation required. Local travel will be required with occasional travel throughout the state.


A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.


Hiring Salary: $4,610 per month
