Controls Systems /Automation Engineer

Yokogawa is seeking to hire a Service Engineer.

Job Summary

• May be assigned to small to large projects with 2 to 5 projects at one time
• Works as part of the team to complete Primary and Secondary project tasks under supervision and mentoring by the Project Lead or Manager.

Support level position for an engineer with a fundamental knowledge of process control techniques and systems.

Primary Tasks

• Builds and tests simple and/or repetitive control strategies, logic, graphics, and operator interface functions on Yokogawa or other Digital Control Systems (DCS) to general directions given by application engineers.
• Supports application engineers in the compilation of data and preparation of reports for various activities such as customer proposals, Front End Engineering Designs (FEED) studies, project design documents, FAT guides, etc.
• Is familiar with and follows procedures (ISO, GES, Safety, etc.) and project work methodologies as they apply to assigned tasks.
• Is competent with the basic engineering builder functions of one or more digital control systems. Continues to expand this knowledge. Has a good working knowledge of computers, operating systems and server technology
• Participates in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in a supporting role under the supervision of the Project Lead.
• Documents project control functions according to formats specified in standard templates or by the Project Lead.
• Compiles and maintains project databases, configuration data, or other project information according to general directions given by application engineers. Familiar with Field control station (FCS).
• Participates in project meetings and/or site visits in a supporting role as requested by the Project Lead.

Secondary Tasks

• Understands and follows safe work practices.
• Has a fundamental and increasing understanding of process control concepts and techniques.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
• Travels up to 40% of the time.
• Learns about the architecture and use of one or more Yokogawa control systems through training classes, mentoring of application engineers, self-study as assigned and direct project experience.
• Exhibits the importance of frugal and efficient time management, and reports time promptly and accurately as required by company policies.
• Works cooperatively and efficiently as a member of a project team as assigned by the Project Lead or Engineering Manager.
• Participates in in-house and external training and learning activities as directed by the Engineering Manager.
• Remains aware of overall project scope and guards against unintended scope creep.

Specifications

Education & Experience: BS or MS degree (engineering, computer science, physics, or math) plus 1 year of experience in process control. Plant experience would be a plus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
