The Controller develops and implements policies and procedures to facilitate accounting, payroll, budgeting, taxes and other financial activities. The Controller prepares financial statements, forecasts and metrics reporting for the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Finance Committee, and Board of Governors as requested. The Controller will liaise with Human Resources, information technology, and day to day data resources. The Controller leads a teamof two staff members. Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable/Payroll.
Essential Duties:
1.Responsible for ensuring the overall objectives, policies, programs and fiscal practices of the Club operations are implemented, administered and maintained.
- Supervise accounting staff.
- Produce daily and monthly financial reports, management reports and supporting schedules on a timely basis.This includes financial statements, payroll, daily report and ad hoc reports as request by department heads, General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Finance Committee or Board.
- Maintain reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and selected income/expenses accounts on a monthly basis
- Keep the Club’s Asset Reserve Study current.
- With the Assistant General Manager manage Club cash flow.
- Provide preliminary analysis of monthly financial reports to the Assistant General Manager
- Prepare the Quarterly Membership Financial Report for the Assistant General Manager’sreview.
- Prepare quarterly revised year end forecast and cash flow.
- Prepare payroll, sales and admissions and amusement tax returns as required by the various government agencies.
- Administer Club retirement plan and act as Trustee.Coordinate with third party administrator eligibility periods and annual reporting.With the Human Resources staff schedule and organize semi-annual
- With the Assistant General Manager and Human Resources Director, administer Club Employee Benefits Cafeteria 125 Plan.Evaluate and recommend carriers and plans foremployee health, dental and auxiliary coverages for each plan year.
- Approve all credit adjustments to member accounts.
- Review monthly delinquency list and collection letters.Administer progressive stages of the delinquency process with the Treasurer.
- Ensure proper accounts payable records maintained and tied to the G/L
- Approve all accounts payable invoices
- Ensure that the Accounting Procedures Manual is maintained and kept current.
- Annual Operating and Capital Budget preparation with Department Heads, Assistant General Manager and General Manager.With the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, present budget to Finance Committee, Monitor performance to budget with General Manager, Assistant General Manager and Department Heads.
- With the Assistant General Manager and Clubhouse Manager administer all computer systems at the club, advise users where possible, and obtain professional guidance when necessary.This includes accounting/back office system, point of sale system, timekeeping system and local area network.
- Establish and enforce internal controls and policies in cooperation with General Manager, Assistant General Manager and Department heads, in all areas of the club.
- Club liaison for annual independent audit. Ensure all financial data in order for audit.Responsible for supporting schedule preparation and accuracy.
- As a member of the executive staff, support and attend all employee relation events and activities, and major Club events
- Participate in professional activities and continuing education to keep current on trends in the industry as well as governmental compliance issues.
- Special project as requested by the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Finance Committee or the Board of Governors.

Education/Experience/Skills
·Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience required.
·Hospitality/Private Club related experience preferred.
·CHAE preferred but not required
·CPA preferred but not required.
·Proficient with Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, and Power Point
Experience with club software highly desirable,Jonas Encore Software preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment
·Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds.
·Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
