JOB SUMMARY

POET is currently the nation’s 36th largest container exporter, exporting feed products to more than 20 countries. We are excited to have recently acquired a rail-to-container transload facility in Savannah, Georgia! By expanding our footprint, we will continue to drive consistency and demand within several of POET’s key markets for Dakota Gold and NexPro animal feed. Our customers have already come to expect nothing less than the best in food safety, quality and customer service from POET, and we will continue to deliver as a trusted partner!

 

We are making improvements to enhance our new location and showcase our world-class safety culture. The Control Room Operator is responsible for operating the controls of the transload elevator and maintaining a close working partnership with both production and office team members.


DURING A TYPICAL DAY (IF THERE IS ONE)…

  • Work closely with the Yard Supervisor to ensure the production plan is communicated to the team in detail and executed without issue.
  • Conduct daily checks of all industrial equipment.
  • Carefully observe transload machinery and report any irregularities to the Operations Manager
  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards within control room.
  • Observe regulations surrounding agricultural trade, as provided by onsite training.
  • Observe proper PPE (personal protective equipment) and railway safety practices.
  • Ensure good communication with the office and leadership teams via updating network system and online SharePoint.
  • Report any delays in production to leadership.
  • Reports any safety or environmental issues to team leader and/or safety manager.
  • Operate controls of transload elevator
  • Maintain maximum efficiency in production flow. Coordinate with Yard Supervisor and Jockey Drivers to ensure a constant flow of product with minimal down time.
  • Serve as the liaison between office and production team representatives.
  • Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skill may be put to a lot of other uses!
  • Prepare all paperwork needed for production crew each day.

 

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to embrace change.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy as it relates to data entry.
  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.
  • Experience in an operating or manufacturing plant environment, terminal operations, or similar environments.
  • Knowledge of logistics, trucking industries and ability to handle opening / closing heavy “bulkhead” style doors on a shipping container.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • You are a self-driven, energetic, and a team player.

    • Occasionally lifting weight up to sixty (60) pounds.
    • Control Occasionally climbing ladders.
    • Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weight of less than fifty (50) pounds.
    • Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
    • Walking up to two (2) or more miles per day.
