Job Summary

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energetic Construction Surveyor. The position is within our Road/Highway Construction group, where we are a leader in asphalt paving, products, and general heavy civil construction. Our operating market includes Central, Southern, Eastern and Western parts of Pennsylvania.

The position will report to the supervisor and will be responsible for a variety of duties in and around job site of construction projects. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. The ideal candidate has a proven record of success in fast-paced environments. Must have the ability to work with and communicate with cross-functional teams.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of modern surveying equipment such as GPS, robotic total stations, and field software
  • Construction layout and surveying on DOT roadway projects
  • Keep accurate field records and documentation of work
  • Ability to calculate quantities for materials and supplies
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, cross sections, and specifications
  • Travel to project locations as directed by company management
  • Knowledge of computer software
  • Perform topographic surveys, construction staking, and control surveys

Education

  • Valid drivers’ license with the ability to maintain a clean driving history
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Skills

  • Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • At least five years of experience in construction surveying preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Proven track record working safely
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
  • Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, overtime as required
