CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT (VANDENBERG)
This role is responsible for overseeing the coordination and field execution of facilities construction projects. You will work with Facility Engineers, Construction Project Managers, Designers, Facilities and Maintenance technicians, vendors and internal partners/customers to support these goals. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change and own projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class manufacturing facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to work additional hours as necessary to meet business needs
- Work hand in- hand with Construction Project Manager to maintain accurate records of daily logs, progress reports, financial reports related to the construction of facilities
- Enforces contract expectations from subcontractors and communication of any discrepancies
- Review and manage project request tickets. Create work orders when needed and manage to completion
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers
- Schedule and manage subcontractors to make designated warranty repairs
- Develops and maintains good rapport with subcontractors, operators, AHJ officials and inspectors. Coordinate inspections with local officials and Construction Project Manager
- Authorizes payment of subcontractors upon thorough inspection of work
- Maintains a safe work site by implementing safety requirements, enforcing safe work habits, observing OSHA requirements and any applicable agencies' regulations
- Plan and direct construction activities of internal resources as well as all involved subcontractors for each phase of construction. Led any coordination meetings between trades
- Monitors subdivision cleanliness and hold subcontractors responsible for daily clean-up
- Approves work being performed by subcontractors and handle any related issue
- Coordinate facilities projects to ensure vendors meet SpaceX, Air Force, and local standards while delivering promised services, materials, and craftsmanship
- Create Purchase Orders as necessary to support project timely execution including but not limited to, rentals, material or subcontractor labor
- Verify all checklists are completed and inspections are scheduled and passed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of professional experience in the construction industry
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years of experience leading personnel and projects with the coordination of multiple trades on site
- Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and calculations. Ability to mark up and highlight coordination items.
- Demonstrated ability to independently and effectively manage projects in an extremely fast paced and changing environment.
- Completed bachelor's degree in construction management or related field
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite tools and PDF editor software such as Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience and competence in facility design coordination software and tools such as BIM 360 and Navisworks etc.
- 5+ years Commercial construction experience as a superintendent
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, framing, and industrial gas trade
- Bilingual (English & Spanish)
- Knowledge of basic engineering and construction principles and methods
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support in emergency situations
- Willingness to work outdoors
- Physical effort including standing, lifting and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (15 to 35 lbs.)
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Vandenberg
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction
- Occasional travel may be required based on specific project tasks
- Willing to support as needed, nights and weekends
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Construction Superintendent/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
