We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative Construction Superintendent who thrives when people are in sync and construction projects are running like they should. Based out of Destin, FL you’ll take the lead in overseeing the contractors’ performance on multiple sites, including adherence to schedule, quality and safety requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Review contractors’ field QC programs and test & inspection plans and provide feedback to JV PM.
  • Monitor construction safety and notifies the Contractor’s supervision and JV PM and HSE Manager of any observed unsafe practices or conditions. Take immediate action in the event of imminent danger to life or property. Keep school and public safety in mind at all times.
  • Observe and monitor construction for conformance with the contract documents, schedules, plans, specifications and industry practices.
  • Review & comment on critical testing & inspection reports including all results below required standards.
  • Participate in necessary meetings with Contractor and Jacobs/Titan staff as needed including contractor progress meetings, safety meetings, QA/QC meetings, pre-installation meetings, follow-up inspections, etc.
  • Stay familiar with School Operations, necessary security protocols and School notification processes and protocols so that work can continue in a timely manner. Assist PM as needed in these areas with particular attention to upcoming work efforts that require notifications especially for utility tie-ins or working in occupied areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of the contractor’s performance and progress
  • Read and understand the contract documents pertaining to assigned contractors including the contract for construction services, contractor QC requirements and safety requirements, etc.
  • Verify completion and correction of any noncompliance reports issued by the JV to contractors including punch list and closeout confirmation.
  • Immediately notify PM of any observed delays, out of sequence activities, issues of concern, quality issues, etc. and provides recommendations for reconciliation and/or correction.
  • Monitor contractors’ progress for conformance to the latest approved baseline schedule and notify PM of any anticipated delays and make recommendations for recovery plans.
  • Work in direct collaboration with the Project Manager (PM) and Project Engineer (PE) for specific assigned duties required in the execution of the work and serve as a coordination resource to the project team
  • Become familiar with all pertinent Contract documents as well as Project software and controls systems including ProCore, Prolog and P6.
  • Maintain a photo diary of work in progress and issues of concern that are observed. Provides copies to PM and Project Files on at least a weekly basis
  • Assist the PM in verifying quantities of work performed and materials used, as backup for the review of contractor’s applications for payment
  • Monitor field activities of assigned contractors, reports on progress of the work for assigned contractors, and assist in identification and verification of any required remediation activities for non-conforming work
  • Provide open and honest communication to Jacobs/Titan, Owner Staff and others as required, both oral and written, depending on the situation at hand. Work closely with PM and PE on dissemination of information.
  • Document and share QA/QC lessons learned and best practices among projects
  • Review look-ahead schedules with contractor’s staff (field and office), PM and others to determine upcoming work activities, testing/inspection requirements, equipment needs, coordination requirements, etc. prior to each contractor meeting. Brief PM on these items.
  • Review critical submittals and shop drawings from contractors and provides feedback to JV PM.
  • Be available to work extended hours and weekends, as needed, with appropriate notification as work progresses and work schedules dictate.
  • Assist with data recording through daily reports and job site photos, weekly and monthly status reports
  • Stay familiar with ongoing coordination efforts between projects in the vicinity, as well as tasks within the project limits as work areas shift and progress.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of pre-construction planning, building systems/components and technology, construction supervision, construction safety and QA/QC, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship building
  • At least 5 years’ experience shall be as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or Inspector on large-scale, multi-contract building projects
  • 15+ years of experience in construction involving multiple phases of large-scale building/rehabilitation projects

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering
