Job Description

Onsite role in Datacenter - 7 AM- 3:30 PM shift.

Location raleigh


Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform tape control and tape library functions; and maintain the CA ESP job scheduler.
  • Create backup computer files; process production runs, test runs, and special production runs; and adjust job run schedules to accommodate special runs.
  • Support the mainframe and associated peripheral equipment on a 24-hour cycle.
  • Control the SYSPLEX environment and peripherals.
  • Initialize and halt systems without data loss.
  • Restore program files and data after loss; notify users and other appropriate personnel of problems and consequent status; maintain job run and incident logs and record of reports run.
  • Operate computer consoles to ensure data files are entered as required by production schedules.
  • Operate a z/OS SYSPLEX environment with multiple LPARs.
  • This position reports to the Computer Room Supervisor and works with the Operations and Systems team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of: computer operations and associated peripherals; and computer programming techniques.
  • Ability to: Operate master computer consoles and follow procedures exactly to ensure timely and accurate program production; identify systems or equipment failures; identify and report programming malfunctions; understand complex instructions, both written and oral; effectively communicate with others.
  • Skills in: JES, MVS, JCL, z/OS SYSPLEX, and CA ESP job scheduler highly preferred.
