Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Operator

Base Rate:


$25.46


Performance Pay:


Available annually


New hire experience:


1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a five-year maximum


New hire education:


1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

OVERVIEW

To prepare scaled drawings and to complete drafts on computer aided drafting (CAD) equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to perform basic lettering techniques on computer aided drafting (CAD)
  • Ability to comprehend charts, diagrams and blueprints
  • Ability to set up plotter for printing finished sketches from compute
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations with knowledge of geometry
  • Knowledge of requirements of ADA 501 laws helpful
  • High School education or equivalent; good basic grammar, spelling and math
  • Ability to interface with engineers and architects
  • Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, night shift, swing shift, holidays)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reproduce technical drawings on blueprint machine
  • Interpret blueprints and dimension drawings with skill, speed and accuracy using customary units of measure
  • Prepare scaled drawings from drawings, sketches, field notes, calculations and verbal instructions and complete drafts on CAD for department and district use
  • Filed check job locations and take accurate measurements to complete CAD drawings
  • Organize blueprints, plans and specifications in archives
  • Complete drawings for portable classroom permit process and assist in obtaining permits

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Pick up and/or deliver blueprints, computers disks, building permits, etc

Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Transportation. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
