Job Description

CAD DESIGNER – Lead (Sterling, Fine & Men’s)


Position Overview:

The CAD Design Lead is a member of the Design team and is an exempt, full-time position reporting to the Design Manager. Our ideal candidate will support various aspects of the design process including the creation of manufacturable models, technical artwork, and design specifications as well as implementation of design technologies.


Responsibilities:

CAD Designer

· Create high quality, intermediate to advanced level 3D prototypes and/or other hands-on modeling methods with less-detailed direction and minimal supervision

· Plan, develop, and maintain files for product based on manager’s direction: 3D CAD models, 2D photorealistic renders, technical specifications, and ultimately finished assortments

· Interpret conceptual direction provided by Design leadership and provide sketches/mock-ups as requested

· Assist in the preparation of CAD files for submission phases

· Review vendor CAD files for technical viability and provide detailed feedback to strategic partners

· Adjust, edit, and otherwise rework CAD models to meet aesthetic and functionality expectations from Design leadership

· Setup and maintain 2D and 3D shared files and design standards, tools, and equipment based on established best practices

· Clearly communicate project timelines and status while managing priorities and report/ problem solve any roadblocks or challenges to manager

· Attend/lead meetings on behalf of Design team/ manager with confidence and expertise

· Operate and maintain jewelry making tools/equipment

· Contribute to technical and design innovations, staying current with design technology

· Explore non-traditional jewelry techniques

· Prepare models to 3D print to test for functionality and aesthetic intent

· Ensure all deliverables are of the highest quality

· Guide and train coworkers on knowledge and skills as needed

· Operate and maintain 3D printer

· Oversee creation and hand-off of high-quality 3D prototypes of engravable pieces

· Work independently, solve problems, make decisions, and communicate effectively in difficult situations


Design Team Member

· Champion the Kendra Scott design aesthetic, quality expectation and innovative mindset

· Maintain a high level of communication and collaboration with supervisor and other members of the design team to ensure continual progress toward timely, accurate, and cohesive assortments to completion

· Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and create best practices within area of responsibility and role within department

· Contribute your own, and respect other’s personal aesthetic opinions to enrich team perspective

· Must be organized, able to act independently as well as take direction, and able to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced environment

· Maintain a clean, efficient, and safe working environment

· Assist in Home Office Design tours & video shoots


Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

· Metal Arts or Jewelry degree or equivalent work experience

· 2-4 years’ experience in CAD/CAM for a high-growth company

· Strong computer skills – 3D software skills (Matrix / Rhino, Z-brush, Keyshot) 2D programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Power Point, Share Point)

· Extensive knowledge in creating solid polysurface models and modifying and repairing mesh objects

· Experience with EnvisionTec printers is a plus

· A proven ability to execute with consistent high quality on-time delivery

· Strong ability to comprehend and execute brand’s vision

· Knowledge of complex construction of precious and non-precious jewelry, stone settings as well as working mechanisms including clasps and hinges

· Excellent listening and communication skills

· Impeccable attention to detail

· Takes a solution-oriented approach to complex designs

· Receptive to feedback from team and cross-functional partners

· Strong ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
