ORGANIZATION
- Communication and Output: Write clear and often translated scientific work products for publication in media and blog posts
- Work with communities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to identify research and data needs
- Research: Utilize strong investigatory, analytical, and writing skills to conduct data analysis, synthesize and aggregate relevant papers or research, edit documents and reports, and visualize data for technical and non-scientific audiences. Learn from community partners to inform research and identify broader research topics and themes for follow-on research and science-policy work.
- Contribute to technical reports, peer-reviewed papers, and other work products.
- And produce summaries of findings and rapid response analyses for the public and decision-makers
- Communicate scientific concepts directly to citizens, policymakers, NGOs and the media
- Experience teaching, collaborating with, or otherwise partnering with non-technical audiences
- Years of experience experience in energy systems, energy economics, environmental public health, environmental science, engineering, or related field
- A master's degree with 2
- Years of experience -or- a bachelor's degree with 4
- Experience with one or more of the following: Python, R, Stata, SPSS, Tableau, GIS and air quality modeling software.
- Ability to pivot from strong analytical and data-driven thinking to highly creative thinking
- Able to work independently and collaboratively
- Attention to detail and a desire to listen and learn
- Able to productively provide and receive feedback
- A sense of humor
- Capable of prioritizing projects and research responsibilities effectively
- Excellent writing and oral communications skills
- A proven track record of working across multiple sectors including, but not limited to, public agencies, academic institutions, and community organizations
- Experience with Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience working at the science-policy interface
- Familiarity with Slack
- A doctoral degree in energy systems, energy economics, environmental public health, environmental science, engineering, or related field
- Energy systems modeling
