Commercial Construction Estimator - Private Sector – BlueTeam

Join the exciting BlueTeam! We are presently seeking a highly motivated, goal orientated and efficient Commercial Construction Estimator to join our growing team in the capital projects division. The Commercial Construction Estimator reports to the Division Director and is responsible for client communication, preparing and submitting Prebid package (estimate, budget, and schedule), and travel to the project site as necessary to collect pertinent information.


What You’ll Do….


  • Communicate internally the client expectations to ensure a smooth transition into production
  • Prepare turnover package and complete project hand-off to Project Manager
  • Re-engage as necessary during production to review progress
  • Work with internal Prebid review team to finalize estimates and distribute to the client
  • Assist in subcontractor and vendor selection and vetting as needed
  • Conduct detailed analyses of project specifications, blueprints and drawings
  • Preform quantity takeoffs through drawings, prints, and other measures including site visits as needed
  • Client communication (local & corporate) at specified intervals to set and maintain expectations
  • Determine the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for commercial construction renovations and Capital Projects
  • Ensure that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline
  • Collaborate with A&E and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required
  • Prepare estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work
  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction renovation and Capital Projects
  • Manage pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions
  • Receive new assignments from the Division Director


What You’ll Need…
  • Computer skills including internet, e-mail, (MS Outlook) MS Excel, and MS Word
  • Able to prioritize and multi-task, proactive and deadline oriented and interpersonal skills
  • Experience as an Estimator in general construction field as general contractor representative, in commercial interior and exterior renovation or Capital Projects
  • Minimum of at least three years of commercial construction renovation or Capital Projects estimating experience
  • Experience with estimating software
  • Ability to closely collaborate with other project teams and stakeholders
  • Time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; or (5+) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must possess strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details
  • Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures, and techniques as well as applicable local, state and federal building codes and legislation
  • Knowledge of Pipeline invitation to bid software is a plus
