Job Description
Responsible for the assignment of appropriate. ICD-10-CM/PCS and/or CPT-4 codes to obtain accurate DRG or APC assignment for proper reimbursement and data collection.


  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
  • Assigns all pertinent.ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and.ICD-10-CM/PCS/CPT-4 procedure codes based on official inpatient and outpatient coding guidelines.
  • Abstracts diagnosis and procedure codes as well as other required data elements as specified by the department or area of the Medical Center into the required Health System computer program (360 CAC EPIC etc.).
  • Attends educational sessions.
Position Compensation Range: $20.68 - $32.05 Hourly


Minimum Requirements


Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.


Experience: 1 year of experience required. Inpatient and/or outpatient hospital coding experience required. Academic medical center experience preferred.


Licensure: Coding certification is required through the AHIMA or AAPC as a RHIA RHIT CCS CCS-P CPC CCA and CPC-H within 12 months of hire. CASCC certification (Certified CASCC coder) is preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
