The Job


Join the team at the heart of newsgathering and production for northeast regional news across the entire network and work in a thriving bustling NYC based newsroom environment full of energy. Interns will have the opportunity to assist the New York bureau in Northeast regional newsgathering reporting and production.


Role Responsibilities


  • Chase breaking news and support editorial newsgathering calls on key stories
  • Assist on the ground with man-on-the-street interviews and other field assistance on major stories
  • Monitor, log and report back on press conferences on pertinent topics with key officials
  • Pitch and flag stories in region for CNN coverage
  • Intern may have an opportunity to shadow a major primetime control room during LIVE air
  • In some instances, write stories for CNN.com
  • Support Reporters & Producers in video package production by searching for video in our systems, logging, and identifying key soundbites


Qualifications & Experience


  • Must be in academic good standing (2.8 or above GPA)
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States. U.S. International students must hold an F1 Visa to be considered.
  • Must be actively enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
  • Must be a rising Junior, Senior or Graduate Student (18 years or older)
  • Prior writing, broadcast radio, and/or video journalism experience

And Finally, What To Know Before Applying
  • In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns, $25 per hour USD for graduate level interns.
  • Interviewing will take place from August through mid-September. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.
  • The duration of the program is 10 weeks dependent on the student’s availability based on semester schedule
  • Start Date: October 2nd
  • End Date: December 15th
  • Interns will be expected to work 16-24 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.

  • Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
