Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) at Sun Life is seeking for a Cloud Engineer, who can work with a skilled team of Cloud Engineers and help deliver better & efficient cloud platform solutions to our consumers.

This is a great opportunity to work with a highly skilled team of Cloud Engineers and work with them in ongoing Engineering initiatives with our partner stakeholder group and help our consumers to onboard to Cloud.

What will you do?

  • Willing to work and support cloud platform with on engineering escalated on call rotations.
  • Support Cloud Audit, and Risk and compliance requirements from partnering with Security and governance teams.
  • Be part of a global Cloud Center of Excellence focused on delivering cloud solutions.
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture team to ensure proper execution, business, and strategic alignment.
  • Consult and advise our consumers on Cloud Services, best practices and lead them to get onboarded to Cloud Environment seamlessly.
  • Be part of an Agile development team helping the business deliver strategic initiatives
  • Build automation and compliance by design using Cloud Native technologies.
  • Work with Support teams to debug and fix reported issues, and act as an escalation point for incidents
  • Drive forward the Cloud Infrastructure as Code roadmap.
  • Required to move quickly but never compromise the security of our systems or the privacy of our clients.
  • Apply best practices, standards, and ensure compliance to all company security directives.
  • Partner with our consumers within Sun Life to assist them get onboarded to cloud, provision environments, develop roles and build a seamless onboarding process.
  • Participate in security engineering to ensure compliance by design.
  • Make both tactical and strategic decisions including delivering Cloud Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives.
  • Working with new technologies and transforming legacy technology to leverage the Cloud.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Systems provisioning and configuration management experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, Kubernetes, or Cloud Native tools.
  • You’ve engineered solutions for enterprise initiatives on a global scale.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in server administration and/or cloud solution administration in an enterprise environment.
  • Databases and data experience such as: PostgreSQL, Redis or similar
  • Experience in DevOps environments and the use of automation to deliver business value is useful
  • Advanced experience with programming and/or scripting languages (Python, Perl, Java, Bash, Ruby)
  • Technical and business experience with one of the main public cloud providers (AWS, or Azure, or GCP).
  • University degree/college diploma in related discipline(s) or equivalent work experience, and/or 5+ years of industry experience in the IT industry
  • Experience in Software Engineering, Scripting, SDLC, or Infrastructure as Code.

Preferred Skills

  • Good knowledge with programming and/or scripting languages (Python, Perl, Java, Bash, Ruby)
  • Technical knowledge/ Cloud Certification with one of the public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • The ability to deliver documents, artifacts, and documentation (not just consoles and keyboards).
  • Strong communication skills that build customers’ confidence and trusted partnership.

Note:

  • Please note that this role will require on-call rotation work.
  • In addition, to qualify for this role, you must be eligible for Enhanced Reliability Clearance with the Government of Canada.

If you are a California resident, the salary range for this position is:
Southern region: $126,600 - $190,000 annually
Central region: $ 133,500 -$200,300 annually
Northern region: $142,700 - $214,100 annually
If you are a Colorado resident, the salary range for this position is $ 120,900 - $181,300 annually.
If you are a New York resident, the salary range for this position is $142,700 - $214,100 annually.
If you are Washington resident, the salary range for this position is $ 133,500 -$200,300 annually.
The full range minimum and maximum listed in the job posting is tied to the GCF level and job family.
